Refinding My Center and Helping You Find Yours

Video

While meditated for guidance I wasn’t aware that I received anything but woke the next day suddenly deciding to visit my grandmother. Upon entering the cemetery I found my center.

Raising my Son to be a Real Life Hero

Video

I remember almost every time I talk to my son about doing “Random Acts of Kindness”, not for the thanks and praise but because he knows it is the right thing to do. I’ve seen/heard of him do little things for people: going into a pool between races to get goggles for a little girl whose goggle fell off during her race, giving directions to his substitute bus driver, to name a couple. As I tell him, my job as a parent isn’t to be his friend but to make sure he grows up to be a Great Man and Leader AND an Upstanding Citizen of the Planet.

Me and My Goal Board

Me and My Goal Board

Do you have an idea of what it is you want? Not how much money you would like, but what would you be/do/have if you had the money. This is my main goal board. It is over my bed so that it is the first thing I look at in the morning and the last thing I focus on before I fall asleep. Over time some pictures get covered by “better pictures”.

I would recommend taking some time, find pictures from online, magazines, brochures, etc and put together your goal board. Make it a fun activity and don’t limit yourself.

You have goals in life. Don’t let someting like inconvenience hold you back. Dream BIG and move towards it AT ALL COST!

Dedication and Drive

Standard

This morning I was awoken by my son at 4:48. Today was supposed to be his first morning swim practice. The lightning and thunder prevented this; however, I was proud of him. He woke up by himself and proceeded to wake me. As of last night his bag was repacked and if it wasn’t for the weather he was ready to go. He already swims for 2 hours 6 days a week and now he wants to add the 2 extra hours to help him hone his skills.

As I said in my first video, he decided in December 2010 that he wants to feel the weight of HIS Olympic Gold Medal on his chest. And as a single mom all I could think of is how am I going to afford that… NOT will he make it.

Will Smith said once:

The separation of talent and skill is one of the greatest misunderstood concepts for people who are trying to excel, who have dreams, who want to do things. Talent you have naturally. Skill is only developed by hours and hours and hours of beating on your craft.

I’ve never really viewed myself as particularly talented. Where I excel is ridiculous, sickening work ethic. You know, while the other guy’s sleeping, I’m working. While the other guys’ eating, I’m working.

There’s no easy way around it. No matter how talented you are, your talent is going to fail you if you’re not skilled. If you don’t study, if you don’t work really hard and dedicate yourself to being better every single day, you’ll never be able to communicate with people – with your artistry – the way that you want….

I don’t think any truer words have ever been spoken!
