I work with non-profit organizations reward their supporters while fundraising. The program is part of what Amazon Smiles does but it also has a point system that leverages the community’s normal spending.Today I got to speak to a new non-profit who’s focus is helping women with cancer. Right now they are working on the Cinderella Project which helps girls with cancer be able to attend prom with donated dresses. Very worthy cause! From that meeting I got a referral and forever business thinking I told her that we should start up her group first then sponsor the referred church so that her group would have the leverage of the second group. YAY!

Do you ever just feel like you are doing what you are supposed to be doing with your life? I noticed that when I get to present, train new distributors and office staff of Non-profits and Health Professionals, and work the business with business minded individuals I feel a kinda buzz within. I feel alive and purposeful! I LOVE THAT!

Yesterday I got to talk with GMYS decision maker and they are launching a new website. I will have to write up the code to link their site up with their fundraising site (thank goodness that I learned how to program all those years ago!). I also have to write up templates of announcing the fundraising site. Once I get these items completed I have a system that new NPOs will be able to follow!

Later today I have a networking event with “over 200 Miami professionals”. I’m looking forward to this event! The other thing is that last week I had an event and someone wanted to talk to me about the business. As it turned out he was sick from the Thursday until Sunday, so he contacted me this morning and set up a quick appointment for 6p right before the event! I’m excited to talk with him.

A prospect contacted me about changing her presentation tomorrow morning to Thursday. The wonderful thing about this meeting is that she wants me to present to her and 2 other people who are interested in starting a business. The cool thing is that one is from Jamaica and the other is from England! Thankfully my company operates in both countries and delivers to over 200. New Year’s Resolutions

This year has been a world of change for us.

In April Keegan did the swim leg of a triathlon. In May we went to Jamaica for a swim meet with the Flying Fish Swim Club. My son graduated from middle school and started high school. In September Miami Dade College closed its pool to the public meaning we had to leave and no longer swim under the name Flying Fish. He loves his school, his program and swimming for his school.

In February I got bronchitis again. In April at the triathlon I got a severe case of poison oak and left my job. In May I got to go back to Jamaica for the first time in 21 years. I enjoyed seeing friends and family. In June I was able to go to Vegas for Insanity Bootcamp that changed my views of network marketing. The section that resonated with me the most was:

People respond to your campaign, you, THEN your business opportunity.

I first started with Put Health Back in Healthcare, which then expanded to Building Better Communities. I am happy that Market America is so diverse that I’m able to work with various professionals – veterinarians, health professionals, financial advisers, new musical artists, makeup artists, business owners, gym owners and instructors, to name a few – but then I also get to work with entrepreneurs and people who want a change in their lives. I love what I am doing.

With this summary of the year, yesterday I saw the TedTalks of Dr Joel Fuhrman. It reminded me of my New Year’s Resolution for a 85-90% plant based diet. I went to the library and borrowed his book Eat to Live and am now a quarter way through the book which also touches on another resolution to read a book a month. I’m now talking to anyone who will listen to me about what I do and my goals which is another resolution of being a Positive Force in the community.

I love how the experiences of the past couple years have made me able to succeed in changing my life to fulfill these resolutions. I still have a few resolutions to live out: Leading by Example, Helping Others Succeed, Becoming Financially Free, and Traveling the World. And know that the actions I’m doing now will help me reach those in the near future.

Just One Day?

Just One Day?

Are you fulfilled with your day to day life? I ask myself this question every, single day. Over the past couple weeks I can honestly say yes. My life is my own – I have no one to blame when I slack off but myself, BUT I have no one to praise when I accomplish the goals I set for myself but me.

Over a year ago I had decided to pursue a life of network marketing. This decision was a result of not being approved for paid time off to see my son try out for the Jamaican National Swim Team. An opportunity came up the very next day, I KNEW this was a Fantastic Opportunity, diverse and stable company, AND the Compensation Plan was simple and realistic. I started a couple days later.

My results weren’t spectacular, but I was able to keep my head above water. When I couldn’t get time off for my son’s first international meet (yes he made the team!) it stoked the internal desire. I was reminding people to download shop buddy on their computer and the app on their phone to earn Cash Back on their regular shopping.

My attitude was getting more negative, and I felt put upon at work. One day in the middle of a blaming incident (towards someone else for something I did and admitted to doing) I handed my resignation. I worked pretty consistently for the first few weeks but then with contentment I started getting lazy and slacking off. Thankfully I was attending online courses, listening to audio books, and watching instructional videos when one moved me so much that I decided to attend one.

Eric Worre was Spectacularly motivational in my life. I attended his Insanity Bootcamp and had SO many gems of wisdom to bring back to my team. The idea that resonated with me the most was People are moved by your campaign, then you THEN your opportunity. From what I’ve always learned with the teachings in network marketing is that one must promote the opportunity… nothing was ever said about a campaign or me. The inner fire got a little bigger.

I went to Insanity Bootcamp almost 2 months ago. My whole grasp of me and my campaign has changed. Now I want to Build a Better Community – helping licensed health professionals, entrepreneurs, business owners, non profits and the community. When that switch happened people started contacting me, I started meeting influential people within my community, and opportunities presented themselves.

Yesterday I replied to 7 people who were asking about this “job” and on the first reply I felt weird saying “this isn’t a job, it is a business opportunity that helps the community”. The old feelings and connotations with network marketing that I’ve experienced talking to people came back; and a small part of me felt misleading. Then I remembered something:

Network marketing is a way to freedom. It is one of the only professions that promotes self growth in order to achieve success.

There are companies that are switching from hourly pay to salary (no overtime) or strictly commission. I think that if the world is already going in that direction shouldn’t a person get paid for the foundation that they built, the products and services that they recommended and sold, and the positive difference that they make to the community? Shouldn’t each person be able to build their own dreams and have the freedom to spend time with their kids, follow their dreams, and live their passion?

I don’t think that a decision is made in one day… but the decision change course is. The feeling of accomplishment in making the decision usually is only the first day *grinning* before the fear of change or the unknown, failure or success creeps up on you. And one must battle that demon until one starts seeing the fruits of their labor. But for me the part that was sick and tired of having to answer to anyone, feeling unfulfilled, and feeling that my life was a spiral that was really wearing me down mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually is still to this day happy that I had the courage to take the first step and decide that I truly needed a change.

I know I was raised to get a good education, get a good paying job and I will be happy. I found this not to be true.

I got a bachelor in business and a master in IT. Most of the time I had to dumb down my resume to even be considered for a position, then when I got the job I out grew it within months. My mind was different than most of my coworkers. I learned what I had to do, then I would look at how the system worked. My way of thinking is make the system as effective and efficient as possible. This didn’t go over well most of the time. Many supervisors thought I was trying to take their position… furthest thing from my mind. Also when I lost the feeling of accomplishment or saw that they preferred to be redundant and obsolete I had to leave.

I need to feel like I am making a difference in other people’s lives. My favorite position to date was when I went door to door as “acquisitions” and customer service for a telecommunication company. Their new service was becoming available in small pockets of the county. I was the person to introduce customers to the new product and make sure they were satisfied with what they currently had. I loved training my co-workers, meeting people at their homes, and helping them save money after looking over their bills and making them aware of their service and spending. One customer saved over $150 per month with this new program and looking up the number instead of calling 411. Not everyone was open to the new service and I was only yelled at once – by a man who told me to come back.

I was honest and told people when what they currently had was the best they could afford. I got phone calls thanking me by their families for being so honest. I was the face of customer service in the areas that I oversaw. I held this position over 6 years ago and sometimes will run into someone that I had visited. I was impressed that those I ran into remembered my name and truly cared about my well being. Just recollecting the artist at a Arts Festival in South Miami or a woman at Costco brings me to tears knowing that I made such an impact that they remembered me so long after I had visited them at their homes.

I feel that this is the answer to my life questions. How can I best serve my community? How can I truly make a positive difference?

Embracing My Reality

Do you wake up every morning with a spring in your step, eager to face the world? Or were you like me who hated my job, had to bear an 45 minute commute and deal with the office politics, drab ambiance and negative attitudes? I really didn’t like what I was doing as I didn’t feel challenged or like I was making a difference in my community.

I had settled for this reality for too long. I took a leap of faith on network marketing. Losing my way there also. I enjoyed the public speaking, the helping others build extra income, and the talking with random people. What I didn’t like was seeing a person need help but was too afraid to take it, believe that they had “job security”, and think that network marketing was just about retail.

In the past couple weeks I’ve embraced my true purpose in life and reality. I’m a visionary and leader. Eric Worre had taught me in his Insanity Bootcamp that people look at me then my campaign THEN my business opportunity. I love helping others and making a positive difference that can me measured. Thankfully have found a few divisions within my company that allows me to build my community.

Do you know a charity that needs help fundraising? Do you know any non profits that could use extra money? Is your child in school with a PTA or PTSA that is asking you to sell chocolates, wrapping paper or useless nick knacks to have a bigger budget to improve the quality of school life? The NPO division gives non profit organizations the ability to earn royalties without having their supporters pull extra money out of their pockets than what they are already spending!

Do you know a health professional who is struggling? Are you a health professional who is frustrated with your profit margin? Feeling overwhelmed with your insurance, payroll and other monthly costs just to stay open? I think in communities there should be basic skills training to succeed in network marketing as this is where the money is and these skills can be used in other industries. The main business Market America gives people the freedom to be their own boss.

Better Attitude

Better Attitude

When I started my network marketing career my focus was on how can I earn money. I forgot my attitude that it doesn’t matter how much I make as long as I enjoy what I’m doing. Over the months the work got to be really hard and I felt like I was stalling. With school recently starting and PTSA/PTAs needing assistance raising money, I turned my attention to helping my community’s non profit organizations.

With this I don’t have to bother my friends and family to buy things they don’t want or need, get exposed to hundreds in my community, and feel great helping others. To top it off I earn a living talking with and helping people.

I left a good paying job that was not fulfilling and life draining. With a leap of faith that network marketing works, a desire to make a difference in other people’s lives and the knowing that I can do so much more I found so much more! I look forward to every meeting. I look forward to talking with people. AND I never feel like I’m imposing as I truly have something that helps my community and those who contact me!
