New Year’s Resolutions

New Year’s Resolutions

This year has been a world of change for us.

In April Keegan did the swim leg of a triathlon. In May we went to Jamaica for a swim meet with the Flying Fish Swim Club. My son graduated from middle school and started high school. In September Miami Dade College closed its pool to the public meaning we had to leave and no longer swim under the name Flying Fish. He loves his school, his program and swimming for his school.

In February I got bronchitis again. In April at the triathlon I got a severe case of poison oak and left my job. In May I got to go back to Jamaica for the first time in 21 years. I enjoyed seeing friends and family. In June I was able to go to Vegas for Insanity Bootcamp that changed my views of network marketing. The section that resonated with me the most was:

People respond to your campaign, you, THEN your business opportunity.

I first started with Put Health Back in Healthcare, which then expanded to Building Better Communities. I am happy that Market America is so diverse that I’m able to work with various professionals – veterinarians, health professionals, financial advisers, new musical artists, makeup artists, business owners, gym owners and instructors, to name a few – but then I also get to work with entrepreneurs and people who want a change in their lives. I love what I am doing.

With this summary of the year, yesterday I saw the TedTalks of Dr Joel Fuhrman. It reminded me of my New Year’s Resolution for a 85-90% plant based diet. I went to the library and borrowed his book Eat to Live and am now a quarter way through the book which also touches on another resolution to read a book a month. I’m now talking to anyone who will listen to me about what I do and my goals which is another resolution of being a Positive Force in the community.

I love how the experiences of the past couple years have made me able to succeed in changing my life to fulfill these resolutions. I still have a few resolutions to live out: Leading by Example, Helping Others Succeed, Becoming Financially Free, and Traveling the World. And know that the actions I’m doing now will help me reach those in the near future.

Looking back over the year and thinking of your New Year’s Resolutions are you there yet? Or at least much closer to having changed your life from last December? ALL the Best to you and Best Wishes in your endeavors!

are you a boat tied to the dock?

Standard

Today I was listening to one of my Jr Partners. He commented that he wished he was as confident as me when it came to talking to strangers where ever we were. I told him that he should just smile and say hello. If the person was rude who the hell cares as he wasn’t likely to see them again. He then said that in his past, he had an experience that really upset him. “Everyone has had a bad experience somewhere in their past” I said and that he needs to release many of the hurts of his past. Then I asked Could you imagine if you were in a boat tied to the dock, how far do you think you could go? Just like the rope stopping the boat, one’s fears hold them back… just cut the ropes. Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway (Susan Jeffers). Life isn’t going to end, but a person courageous enough to start just needs to keep taking the next step.

My World

Today was a very exciting day! It was the first day of Conference here in Miami in the American Airlines Arena… Home to the Miami Heat! Amazing people from all over the US, Canada, Mexico, Spain, UK, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, New Zealand and Australia. The talked about Motives Cosmetics, Isotonix, Conquer Entertainment, New Products and Tools. We got to see Loren Ridinger, La La Anthony, the Motives Mavens, Carmelo Anthony, Fat Joe, and Jamie Foxx. AND to make the day over the top were the Wonderful Friends who I’ve met because of this company in my home town!

A Decision

A Decision

Hi I’m Stef, a Chinese Jamaican single mom and entrepreneur. Looking at this  statement I notice that I have many labels and hopefully one here, or along the way, will connect with you. I’m not here to have millions of readers just a group that I can connect and grow with. I enjoy connecting with people and being a positive force in their lives.

I want to touch a chord in your life and through experiences, that I have and remember, help you to bring out your own Brilliance AND the give you the courage to show it to and share it with the world. I will reply to all email that is respectfully written “I disagree with your point of view…” as opposed to “You suck” because as I said I’m not here to attract the masses and am not looking to please everyone. I would also like to hear about your life, your goals and your steps to in getting there.

With that said I love audio books and recently I’ve been listening to Seth Godin. I LOVE that man and some of his works resonate with me – listening to him gave me the courage to start this. My background in school was that I finally graduated from college with my 10th declared major for Tourism and Hospitality Management and have a Masters in IT Business.

The reason I write this is that at 40 years old I know I can’t conform to the rules of corporate America. My favorite past jobs were the small start-up companies or the midsize companies that grew too fast and needed to be restructured. I love the challenge of forging a path, the versatility of many hats and the rewards of seeing how I made something work or learning from my mistakes.  I also have a strong background in sales and customer services because I love being around people, solving perceived problems and getting a glimpse of people’s true selves.

I love my life not because I have everything that I want (presently I live with my parents, don’t like my day job, and am paying my way out of debt), but because I’m an artist and have decided to embrace this. I am starting and maintaining this blog for the selfish reason of “showing my Brilliance” and for the selfless reason of being vulnerable so that you may be comfortable to show yours.

I know this sounds disjointed but it will get better with more practice.
