Be Yourself – Your True Self

Be Yourself – Your True Self

I love this quote. The world will try to change you into someone else –  have you ever had a dream, but didn’t follow it because you heard “It would be wrong”, “that’s not how the world works”, or “stop being a dreamer”. I’ve seen the looks of “you poor thing, that will never work” or “I don’t want you to get hurt”.

Don’t let them – Be yourself, follow your dreams, Proudly Show Your Brilliance

There is only one you with your strengths, weaknesses, experiences and dreams. There has been no one like you since before the dawn of time and will never be another like you to the end of time. You are truly Amazing and the world is a Better Place because you are in it.

I think the world would be a much better, more interesting place if everyone had the courage to contribute their Brilliance.

I’m watching the movie The Mummy (one of my favorite shows). A scene that always gets me is when she is upset that the Bembridge Scholars had rejected her application. This saddens me as so many people will see themselves as “not enough” and will give up. Could you imagine a world without Dr Seuss? Theodore Geisel was rejected 27 times. How about Judy Bloom or J.K. Rowling? Walt Disney? Oprah? Thomas Edison? Steve Jobs? Bill Gates? Albert Einstein? Steven Spielberg?

Seth Godin stated “Reject the tyranny of being picked: pick yourself” Are you going to let someone stop you? Or are you going to decide to Be Yourself?

Take that Bembridge  Scholars!

A Touch of Fear

A Touch of Fear

Did you ever notice when you are about to launch something new especially if it was your idea there is fear? It doesn’t matter if you truly believe that you are doing something to make the world a better place… well at least your community. It doesn’t matter that you can see the end result.  Does it matter that I don’t wear the right color for the video? Does it matter that I get so passionate that my words are like race horses after the start? It seems like the only thing in my mind is “I don’t know what to do” THIS ISN’T EVEN TRUE!

I have a vision to Put Health Back in Healthcare utilizing a network marketing company that helps entrepreneurs focus on their passion while benefiting licensed health professionals. I am looking to change network marketing’s focus from “getting rich” to helping the community reach true health.

Being that there are not many people judging from Google+, Facebook, and LinkedIn who have a larger vision with their opportunity than “I can get paid”. When I started this project I was afraid that my idea would be stolen until I received an email from Seth Godin with an article about wanting people to steal ideas. This put some of my thoughts at ease. Then I started talking to entrepreneurs, business owners, health professionals and local activists. At this time I got to see my idea blossom with every telling, explaining that I had. I have a clear picture of the vision.

Now is time for the deliverance and a part of me is terrified as this will mostly take place online. I feel strange talking to a camera as I prefer talking to an audience. I’ve had the experience of being a door to door sales person, teaching classes of 12+ and speaking in front of 1700 people. Over the past few months I’ve just started talking to the camera and most of the time I’m not looking at it as on the phone I end up talking to my face. *smiling*

I’ve been listening to “The Icarus Deception: How High Will You Fly” by Seth Godin every day for the past couple weeks. I recommend this book if you are inspired to do something new, but don’t think you can or should. I’ve decided that I truly want to make a difference at least to my community.

PUT HEALTH BACK IN HEALTHCARE

This is my baby. I will post a video explaining what it is I look to accomplish with health care. At that time I will also post a short blog with who I’m looking for, what the financial obligation is, and which health professionals are accepted. I’m tired of network marketing companies to tell me not to do things that are not duplicatible… just because I’m the first doesn’t mean that a system isn’t duplicatible.

I have decided to be a linchpin even though I feel a touch of fear. I am looking for others who have the courage to do the same while building their community’s health and well being.

ALL the Best and Many Blessings!

A Decision

A Decision

Hi I’m Stef, a Chinese Jamaican single mom and entrepreneur. Looking at this  statement I notice that I have many labels and hopefully one here, or along the way, will connect with you. I’m not here to have millions of readers just a group that I can connect and grow with. I enjoy connecting with people and being a positive force in their lives.

I want to touch a chord in your life and through experiences, that I have and remember, help you to bring out your own Brilliance AND the give you the courage to show it to and share it with the world. I will reply to all email that is respectfully written “I disagree with your point of view…” as opposed to “You suck” because as I said I’m not here to attract the masses and am not looking to please everyone. I would also like to hear about your life, your goals and your steps to in getting there.

With that said I love audio books and recently I’ve been listening to Seth Godin. I LOVE that man and some of his works resonate with me – listening to him gave me the courage to start this. My background in school was that I finally graduated from college with my 10th declared major for Tourism and Hospitality Management and have a Masters in IT Business.

The reason I write this is that at 40 years old I know I can’t conform to the rules of corporate America. My favorite past jobs were the small start-up companies or the midsize companies that grew too fast and needed to be restructured. I love the challenge of forging a path, the versatility of many hats and the rewards of seeing how I made something work or learning from my mistakes.  I also have a strong background in sales and customer services because I love being around people, solving perceived problems and getting a glimpse of people’s true selves.

I love my life not because I have everything that I want (presently I live with my parents, don’t like my day job, and am paying my way out of debt), but because I’m an artist and have decided to embrace this. I am starting and maintaining this blog for the selfish reason of “showing my Brilliance” and for the selfless reason of being vulnerable so that you may be comfortable to show yours.

I know this sounds disjointed but it will get better with more practice.
